Delivering an Long-Term Release (LTS) release is a superb achievement, and testimony to our community&#8217;s commitment to Ubuntu and KDE.<\/p>\n<p>Beta-tester feedback has been resounding and positive. This confirms\u00a0the amazing work that is being undertaken by our upstream KDE community. Plasma 5, KDE Frameworks 5 and all of KDE continue to demonstrate how Free\/Libre Open Source Software sets world class standards for innovation, usability and integration.<\/p>\n<p>What can you expect from this latest release?<\/p>\n<p>Our new\u00a0software center: <strong>Plasma Discover<\/strong> brim-full of software to choose from.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2653 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/kubuntu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/2da7\/photo_2016-04-21_19-42-17-1024x673.jpg\" alt=\"photo_2016-04-21_19-42-17\" width=\"900\" height=\"592\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The latest <strong>KDE PIM<\/strong> with lots of features and fixes Including\u00a0the latest Akonadi support and integration with MySQL 5.7.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plasma 5<\/strong>, the next generation of KDE\u2019s desktop has been rewritten to make it smoother to use while retaining the familiar setup.<\/p>\n<p>Kubuntu 16.04 comes with <strong>KDE Applications 15.12<\/strong> containing all your favourite apps from KDE, including Dolphin. Even more applications have been ported to KDE Frameworks 5 but those which aren\u2019t, should fit in seamlessly. For a complete desktop suite of applications we&#8217;ve included some non-KDE applications such as\u00a0<strong>LibreOffice 5.1<\/strong> and <strong>Firefox 45<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kubuntu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/3f6d\/16_04-release-muon.png\" rel=\"lightbox[2630]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-2658 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kubuntu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/099b\/16_04-release-muon-1024x695-opt-1024x695.png\" alt=\"16_04-release-muon-1024x695-opt\" width=\"900\" height=\"611\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Keen developer types and friends of <strong>Muon Package Manager<\/strong> will be delighted to know that the project has got a new team of maintainers, and a new release just in time for\u00a0this Kubuntu LTS.<\/p>\n<p>What are you waiting for? Download the ISO from our <a href=\"https:\/\/kubuntu.org\/getkubuntu\/\">downloads section<\/a>, or upgrade now from 15.10!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Warning<\/strong>: 14.04 LTS to 16.04 LTS upgrade is currently problematic and should not be attempted by the average user. Please install a fresh copy of 16.04.1 instead.
