{"id":3250,"date":"2017-06-07T14:56:53","date_gmt":"2017-06-07T14:56:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kubuntu.org\/?p=3250"},"modified":"2017-06-07T14:56:53","modified_gmt":"2017-06-07T14:56:53","slug":"plasma-5-10-1-now-in-zesty-backports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kubuntu.org\/news\/plasma-5-10-1-now-in-zesty-backports\/","title":{"rendered":"Plasma 5.10.1 now in Zesty backports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first bugfix update of the Plasma 5.10 series is now available for users of Kubuntu Zesty Zapus 17.04 to install via our backports PPA.<\/p>\n<p>See the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kde.org\/announcements\/plasma-5.10.1.php\">Plasma 5.10.1 <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kde.org\/announcements\/plasma-5.10.0.php\">5.10.0<\/a> announcements and the release video below for more about the new features available, and bugfixes applied.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VtdTC2Mh070\" width=\"854\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>To update, use the <a href=\"http:\/\/docs.kubuntu.org\/docs\/repositories.html\">Software Repository Guide<\/a> to add the following repository to your software sources list:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>ppa:kubuntu-ppa\/backports<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>or if it is already added, the updates should become available via your preferred update method.<\/p>\n<p>The PPA can be added manually in the Konsole terminal with the command:<\/p>\n<p><em>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa\/backports<\/em><\/p>\n<p>and packages then updated with<\/p>\n<p><em>sudo apt update<\/em><br \/>\n<em>sudo apt full-upgrade<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Upgrade notes:<\/p>\n<p>~ The Kubuntu backports PPA already contains from previous updates <a href=\"http:\/\/kubuntu.org\/news\/kde-pim-update-now-available-for-zesty-zapus-17-04\/\">backported KDE PIM 16.12.3 packages<\/a> (Kmail, Kontact, Korganiser Akregator etc), plus various <a href=\"http:\/\/kubuntu.org\/news\/plasma-bugfix-releases-frameworks-selected-app-updates-now-available-in-backports-ppa-for-zesty-and-xenial\/\">other backported applications,<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kde.org\/announcements\/kde-frameworks-5.34.0.php\">KDE Frameworks 5.34<\/a>, so please be aware that enabling the backports PPA for the 1st time and doing a full upgrade will result in a substantial amount of upgraded packages in addition to Plasma 5.10.<\/p>\n<p>~ The PPA will also continue to receive bugfix updates to Plasma 5.10 when they become available, and further updated KDE applications.<\/p>\n<p>~ While we believe that these packages represent a beneficial and stable update, please bear in mind that they have not been tested as comprehensively as those in the main ubuntu archive, and are <a href=\"https:\/\/community.kde.org\/Kubuntu\/PPAs\">supported only on a limited and informal basis<\/a>. Should any issues occur,\u00a0 please provide feedback on our mailing list [1], IRC [2], file a bug against our PPA packages [3], or optionally contact us via social media.<\/p>\n<p>1.
