{"id":3271,"date":"2017-06-17T21:20:01","date_gmt":"2017-06-17T21:20:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kubuntu.org\/?p=3271"},"modified":"2017-06-18T13:08:06","modified_gmt":"2017-06-18T13:08:06","slug":"latest-round-of-backports-ppa-updates-include-plasma-5-10-2-for-zesty-17-04","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kubuntu.org\/news\/latest-round-of-backports-ppa-updates-include-plasma-5-10-2-for-zesty-17-04\/","title":{"rendered":"Latest round of backports PPA updates include Plasma 5.10.2 for Zesty 17.04"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Kubuntu 17.04 &#8211; Zesty Zapus<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kde.org\/announcements\/plasma-5.10.2.php\">latest 5.10.2 bugfix update<\/a> for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kde.org\/announcements\/plasma-5.10.0.php\">Plasma 5.10 desktop<\/a> is now available in our backports PPA for Zesty Zapus 17.04.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3278\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/4cc5\/plasma-update-5.10.2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"799\" height=\"451\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Included with the update is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kde.org\/announcements\/kde-frameworks-5.35.0.php\">KDE Frameworks 5.35<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kdevelop.org\/\">Kdevelop<\/a> has also been updated to the latest version 5.1.1<\/p>\n<p>Our backports for Xenial Xerus 16.04 also receive updated Plasma and Frameworks, plus some requested KDE applications.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kubuntu 16.04 &#8211; Xenial Xerus<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plasma Desktop 5.8.7 LTS bugfix update<\/li>\n<li>KDE Frameworks 5.35<\/li>\n<li>Digikam 5.5.0<\/li>\n<li>Kdevelop 5.1.1<\/li>\n<li>Krita 3.1.4<\/li>\n<li>Konversation 1.7.2<\/li>\n<li>Krusader 2.6<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To update, use the <a href=\"http:\/\/docs.kubuntu.org\/docs\/repositories.html\">Software Repository Guide<\/a> to add the following repository to your software sources list:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>ppa:kubuntu-ppa\/backports<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>or if it is already added, the updates should become available via your preferred update method.<\/p>\n<p>The PPA can be added manually in the Konsole terminal with the command:<\/p>\n<p><em>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa\/backports<\/em><\/p>\n<p>and packages then updated with<\/p>\n<p><em>sudo apt update<\/em><br \/>\n<em>sudo apt full-upgrade<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Upgrade notes:<\/p>\n<p>~ The Kubuntu backports PPA already contains significant version upgrades of Plasma, applications, Frameworks (and Qt for 16.04), so please be aware that enabling the backports PPA for the 1st time and doing a full upgrade will result in a substantial amount of upgraded packages in addition to the versions in this announcement.\u00a0 The PPA will also continue to receive bugfix and other stable updates when they become available.<\/p>\n<p>~ While we believe that these packages represent a beneficial and stable update, please bear in mind that they have not been tested as comprehensively as those in the main ubuntu archive, and are <a href=\"https:\/\/community.kde.org\/Kubuntu\/PPAs\">supported only on a limited and informal basis<\/a>. Should any issues occur, please provide feedback on our mailing list [1], IRC [2], file a bug against our PPA packages [3], or optionally contact us via social media.<\/p>\n<p>1.
