{"id":3668,"date":"2018-01-04T13:28:52","date_gmt":"2018-01-04T13:28:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kubuntu.org\/?p=3668"},"modified":"2018-01-04T13:28:52","modified_gmt":"2018-01-04T13:28:52","slug":"plasma-5-11-5-bugfix-release-available-in-backports-ppa-for-artful-aardvark-17-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kubuntu.org\/news\/plasma-5-11-5-bugfix-release-available-in-backports-ppa-for-artful-aardvark-17-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Plasma 5.11.5 bugfix release available in backports PPA for Artful Aardvark 17.10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kde.org\/announcements\/plasma-5.11.5.php\">5th and final bugfix update (5.11.5)<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kde.org\/announcements\/plasma-5.11.0.php\">Plasma 5.11<\/a> series is now available for users of Kubuntu Artful Aardvark 17.10 to install via our Backports PPA.<\/p>\n<p>This update also includes an upgrade of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kde.org\/announcements\/kde-frameworks-5.41.0.php\">KDE Frameworks to version 5.41<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To update, add the following repository to your software sources list:<\/p>\n<p><code>ppa:kubuntu-ppa\/backports<\/code><\/p>\n<p>or if it is already added, the updates should become available via your preferred update method.<\/p>\n<p>The PPA can be added manually in the Konsole terminal with the command:<\/p>\n<p><code>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa\/backports<\/code><\/p>\n<p>and packages then updated with<\/p>\n<p><code>sudo apt update<\/code><br \/>\n<code>sudo apt full-upgrade<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Upgrade notes:<\/p>\n<p>~ The Kubuntu backports PPA includes various other backported applications, so please be aware that enabling the backports PPA for the first time and doing a full upgrade will result in a substantial amount of upgraded packages in addition to Plasma 5.11.5.<\/p>\n<p>~ The PPA may also continue to receive updates to Plasma when they become available, and further updated applications where practical.<\/p>\n<p>~ While we believe that these packages represent a beneficial and stable update, please bear in mind that they have not been tested as comprehensively as those in the main Ubuntu archive, and are supported only on a limited and informal basis.
