The beta PPA mentioned below is now empty and closed and the instruction no longer apply.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Are you using Kubuntu 18.10, our current Stable release? Or are you already running our daily development builds?<\/p>\n<p>We currently have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kde.org\/announcements\/plasma-5.14.90.php\">Plasma 5.14.90<\/a> (Plasma 5.15 Beta)\u00a0 available in our <a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/~kubuntu-ppa\/+archive\/ubuntu\/beta\">Beta PPA<\/a>\u00a0for Kubuntu 18.10 and in our <a href=\"http:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/kubuntu\/daily-live\/current\/\">daily Disco ISO images<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0First, upgrade your development\u00a0release<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Update directly from Discover, or use the command line:<\/p>\n<pre class=\"command subordinate\">sudo apt update &amp;&amp; sudo apt full-upgrade -y<\/pre>\n<p>And reboot. If you cannot reboot from the application launcher,<\/p>\n<pre id=\"yui_3_10_3_1_1548015368893_70\" class=\"command subordinate\">systemctl reboot<\/pre>\n<p>from the terminal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Add the PPA to Kubuntu 18.10 then upgrade<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre id=\"yui_3_10_3_1_1548015368893_70\" class=\"command subordinate\">sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa\/beta\nsudo apt update &amp;&amp; sudo apt full-upgrade -y<\/pre>\n<p>Then reboot. If you cannot reboot from the application launcher,<\/p>\n<pre id=\"yui_3_10_3_1_1548015368893_70\" class=\"command subordinate\">systemctl reboot<\/pre>\n<p>from the terminal.<\/p>\n<p>Kubuntu is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kde.org\/community\/whatiskde\/\">KDE community<\/a>, so this testing will benefit both Kubuntu as well as upstream KDE Plasma software, which is used by many other distributions too.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you believe you might have found a packaging bug, you can use your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/launchpad.net\/\">launchpad.net<\/a> account is required to post testing feedback to the Kubuntu team.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>If you believe you have found a bug in the underlying software, then\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bugs.kde.org\">bugs.kde.org<\/a> is the best place to file your bug report.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please review the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kde.org\/announcements\/plasma-5.14.5-5.14.90-changelog.php\">changelog<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>[Test Case]<\/p>\n<p>* General tests:<br \/>&#8211; Does plasma desktop start as normal with no apparent regressions over 5.14.5?<br \/>&#8211; General workflow &#8211; testers should carry out their normal tasks, using the plasma features they normally do, and test common subsystems such as audio, settings changes, compositing, desktop affects, suspend etc.<\/p>\n<p>* Specific tests:<br \/>&#8211; Check the changelog:<br \/>&#8211; Identify items with front\/user facing changes capable of specific testing. e.g. &#8220;weather plasmoid fetches BBC weather data.&#8221;<br \/>&#8211; Test the &#8216;fixed&#8217; functionality.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Testing involves some technical set up to do, so while you do not need to be a highly advanced K\/Ubuntu user, some proficiently in apt-based package management is advisable.<\/p>\n<p>Testing is very important to the quality of the software Ubuntu and Kubuntu developers package and release.<\/p>\n<p>We need your help to get this important beta release in shape for Kubuntu 19.04 as well as added to our backports.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks!
