{"id":4987,"date":"2023-04-07T13:12:21","date_gmt":"2023-04-07T13:12:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kubuntu.org\/?p=4987"},"modified":"2023-04-07T13:12:21","modified_gmt":"2023-04-07T13:12:21","slug":"kubuntu-lunar-lobster-23-04-beta-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kubuntu.org\/news\/kubuntu-lunar-lobster-23-04-beta-released\/","title":{"rendered":"Kubuntu Lunar Lobster (23.04) Beta Released"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The beta of Kubuntu Lunar Lobster (to become 23.04 in April) has now been released, and is available for <a href=\"http:\/\/cdimage.ubuntu.com\/kubuntu\/releases\/23.04\/beta\/\">download<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This milestone features images for Kubuntu and other Ubuntu flavours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pre-releases of Kubuntu Lunar Lobster are not recommended for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Anyone needing a stable system<\/li><li>Regular users who are not aware of pre-release issues<\/li><li>Anyone in a production environment with data or workflows that need to be reliable<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>They are, however, recommended for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Regular users who want to help us test by finding, reporting, and\/or fixing bugs<\/li><li>Kubuntu, KDE, and Qt developers<\/li><li>Other Ubuntu flavour developers<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Beta includes some software updates that are ready for broader testing. However, it is an early set of images, so you should expect some bugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We STRONGLY advise testers to read the <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.ubuntu.com\/LunarLobster\/Beta\/Kubuntu\"><strong>Kubuntu 23.04 Beta release notes<\/strong><\/a><strong> before installing, and in particular the section on &#8216;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.ubuntu.com\/LunarLobster\/Beta\/Kubuntu#Known_issues\"><strong>Known issues<\/strong><\/a><strong>&#8216;.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kubuntu took part in \u2018Ubuntu Testing Week\u2019 from March 2nd to March 9th. Details for all flavours are available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/discourse.ubuntu.com\/t\/ubuntu-23-04-testing-week\/34246\">Ubuntu Discourse announcement<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also find more information about the entire 23.04 release (base, kernel, graphics etc) in the <a href=\"https:\/\/discourse.ubuntu.com\/t\/lunar-lobster-release-notes\/31910\">main Ubuntu Beta release notes<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/lists.ubuntu.com\/archives\/ubuntu-announce\/2023-March\/000288.html\">announcement.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To enable Flatpaks in KDE\u2019s Discover in Kubuntu 23.04, run this command:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><code>sudo apt install flatpak plasma-discover-backend-flatpak<\/code><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To enable the largest Flatpak repository, run this command:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><code>flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https:\/\/flathub.org\/repo\/flathub.flatpakrepo<br><\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Log out and log back in (or restart) to re-initialize the XDG_DATA_DIRS variable, otherwise, newly installed Flatpak apps will not run or appear in the startup menu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The beta of Kubuntu Lunar Lobster (to become 23.04 in April) has now been released, and is available for download.
