KDE 4.1 RC 1 has been released and packages are available for Kubuntu 8.04,
\nthe Hardy Heron. These packages install to \/usr\/lib\/kde4<\/em> and can be
\ninstalled along side your existing KDE 3 installation.<\/p>\n

Notes<\/h3>\n

This is a release candidate quality package and may yet prove to be unstable at times. This release will allow you to follow closely with what is going on in the KDE 4.1 branch.<\/p>\n

Instructions<\/h3>\n

The updated packages for Kubuntu 8.04 are located in the Kubuntu Member’s KDE 4 Personal Package Archive (PPA) repositories. To update to the release candidate of KDE 4.1, please complete the following:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \nAdd deb http:\/\/ppa.launchpad.net\/kubuntu-members-kde4\/ubuntu hardy main<\/em>
    \nto your \/etc\/apt\/sources.list<\/em>.\n<\/li>\n
  2. \nIf you already have the kubuntu-kde4-desktop<\/em> packages installed, simply
    \ntype sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade<\/em> and answer the
    \nquestions in which you are prompted. If you do not have<\/p>\n

    kubuntu-kde4-desktop<\/em> installed, simply type
    \nsudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install kubuntu-kde4-desktop<\/em> and
    \nanswer the questions. Both of these options are to be typed at the command
    \nprompt.\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Some packages are still compiling. Run the above command periodically to check for new additions. kdeplasma-addons<\/em> contains new Plasma fun.<\/p>\n

    Some packages may still be compiling, check back for updates.<\/p>\n

    Bugs<\/h3>\n

    \nThere will be many bugs with this release and it is recommended that you do not
    \nfile bug reports against the packages in this release. If you come across any
    \nissue which may be packaging related, it is recommended that you join the
    \nKubuntu KDE 4 IRC channel (#kubuntu-kde4) and query those in the channel.\n<\/p>\n
