These packages install to <filename>\/usr\/lib\/kde4<\/filename> and can be installed along side your existing KDE 3 installation.<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<h3>Notes<\/h3>\n<p>This is a beta quality package and may prove to be unstable at times. This release will allow you to follow closely with what is going on in the KDE 4.1 branch.<\/p>\n<p>There is a chance that you may need to move or delete your <filename>~\/.kde4<\/filename> directory.<\/p>\n<h3>New in KDE 4.1 Beta 1<\/h3>\n<p>For the first time in any of the KDE 4 releases, the KDE PIM applications are available for you to install. After following the instructions below, simply install any of the KDE 4 PIM modules or install the <em>kdepim-kde4<\/em> package.<\/p>\n<h3>Instructions<\/h3>\n<p>The updated packages for Kubuntu 8.04 are located in the Kubuntu Member&#8217;s KDE 4 Personal Package Archive (PPA) repositories. To update to this latest beta release of KDE 4.1, please complete the following: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Add <em>deb http:\/\/ppa.launchpad.net\/kubuntu-members-kde4\/ubuntu hardy main<\/em> to your <em>\/etc\/apt\/sources.list<\/em>. <\/li>\n<li> If you already have the <em>kubuntu-kde4-desktop<\/em> packages installed, simply type <em>sudo apt-get update &#038;&#038; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade<\/em> and answer the questions in which you are prompted. If you do not have <em>kubuntu-kde4-desktop<\/em> installed, simply type <em>sudo apt-get update &#038;&#038; sudo apt-get install kubuntu-kde4-desktop<\/em> and answer the questions. Both of these options are to be typed at the command prompt. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Bugs<\/h3>\n<p>There will be many bugs with this release and it is recommended that you do not file bug reports against the packages in this release.
